What To Do Before the Storm

1. Secure your home; check hurricane shutters, roof, doors and windows.
2. Compile a disaster kit (eg. Canned food, water, candles etc.)
3. Draft a disaster plan and determine your escape route to the nearest shelter.
4. If your home is prone to flooding or storm surge, make alternative plans to stay at another location.
5. Locate a safe room in your home to ride out the storm.
6. Plan now for the safety of your pets.

Hurricane preparedness is crucial for most islands in the Caribbean.  If you live in the Caribbean or own a second home there, and you have not started working on your hurricane preparedness plan as yet,  NOW is the time to do so.  If you already have your hurricane preparedness plans in place….  Congrats!
